Time to Play: “I Mustache You Some Questions”

A game of tag is being played by bloggers, and this is my day to play. Once tagged, the blogger is provided with a list of questions about themselves.

I was tagged my my friend Lana, who writes the blog Two Teens and Their Mama.  She has been blogging for exactly a year. We discovered each other's blogs when both were in their infancy and have become good friends. Last summer I wrote a post about meeting each other in person.

The name of this game is "I Mustache You Some Questions."  Here goes - I will do my best to answer all the questions, and then I will tag four other bloggers!

Four names people call me other than my real name:

1.  I used to be “Mommy,” but now I'm “Mom”
2. “E’s mom” / “G's Mom”
3. “Sally”  (I have an identical twin named Sally and believe me, I have been called her name a lot!)
4. “Sue” (Acquaintances sometimes try to call me this, but I have just never felt like a “Sue.”)

Four jobs I've had:

1. Residence Hall Assistant/ Residence Hall Director in college
2. Registered Nurse in a variety of settings:
  • Med/surgical floor; Intermediate Cardiac Care Unit; and  ICU/CCU (in three different states).
  • School nurse (and house mother!) at a boarding school in Spain.
  • Staff nurse aboard the SS Universe, for the Semester-at-Sea University Program.
3. Stay-at-Home Mom.
4. Freelance writer.

Four movies I would/have watched more than once:

3. Home videos of my children!
4. The Little Mermaid, Toy Story I and II, all the Rescue Hero movies,  Disney movies ... (Over and over again when my kids were small!)

Four books I would recommend:

3. Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
4. Winter Wheat by Mildred Walker

Four places I have lived:

This is sort of hard to choose, so I will just name the first four!)
1. Canada
2. Spain
3. Delaware, USA
4. West Virginia, USA

Four places I have been:

Again, very hard to choose, as I have been fortunate to travel a lot.
1. My most recent travel:
Spring Break last week; we drove from Montana to Colorado.
2. A place I visited before it ceased to be a country:
               Yugoslavia
3. Variation in Longitude:
I visited my parents when they lived in Singapore. When I worked as a nurse
aboard the S.S.Universe, I went all the way around the world, from West to East,
stopping at ten ports along the way.
4. Variations in Latitude:
I have been north of the Arctic Circle and to the Equator.  The Antarctic Circle,
however, is not high on my list of places I wish to see. (Brrr!)
Note: (On my “About Me”page there is a map that shows all the countries I have been, and a link to a website where you can create a map of your own travels.)

Four places I would rather be right now:

1. Lost in a good novel.
2. A warm tropical beach.
3. On the back of a horse.
4. Exactly where I am now, because I am home - my favorite place in the world.

Four things I don't eat:

Actually there is nothing I won't eat - but these are things I would not choose to eat.
1. A whole hard-boiled egg
2. Swiss cheese
3. Tomato soup (from a can)
4. Raw oysters

Four of my favorite foods:

1. Ice cream
2. Chocolate
3. Peanut butter and chocolate
4. Greek yogurt

Four television shows that I watch:

I really very rarely watch any tv, and I am not currently following any series. I will try to answer the question this way:
1. I used to watch ER and West Wing every week.
2. I still like to watch M.A.S.H re-runs!
3. I have been considering starting to watch the series Downton Abbey.
4. I enjoy watching movies with my family/ friends on our tv.

Four things that I'm looking forward to this year:

1. My daughter coming home from college for a bit.
2. Seeing where my blog / writing will lead me next.
3. Summer weather.
4. Learning how to better use the manual setting on my camera!

Four things I'm always saying:

1. Oh dear.
2.  Be careful.
3. I love you (to my family!)
4. I'm sorry. / Thank you. (I probably say these two phrases equally - and a lot!)

Wow! Now you know quite a bit about me!

It is my turn to tag four bloggers. If you haven't yet discovered their blogs, you are in for a treat.

Ish of Musings of a Writer ... Wanna Be? and Cooking with Ish: Ish and I were friends long before either of us began blogging. I first hit publish before she did ... but I am so impressed that she now writes not one, but two interesting blogs.

Kelly McKenzie of Just Typikel: Kelly's posts makes me laugh, and she always inspires me with her talented, thoughtful writing. She is another blogger I have had the good fortune to meet  and become friends with “in real life.”

Janice Wald of Reflections: I only recently discovered Janice's blog, but it is so full of helpful blogging tutorials that I know I will be spending a lot of future moments there!

Marisa B. from SquaareKat and I have been leaving comments on each other's blogs for some time now.  I enjoy her Ten Things of Thankful posts, and she offers an unique and thought provoking perspective on any topic she writes about.

Now it is your turn: Ish, Kelly, Janice, and Marisa ...“I mustache you some questions!”
I can't wait to read your answers!

  4. I can totally hear you saying "oh dear". So fun to read your answers. I was actually here first thing this morning, but just now realized I never left a comment (I'll blame it on the migraine I had today). The next time we get together I need to hear more about all the fascinating travel you've done!

    1. My grandmother, aunt, mom, cousins, sisters and I all use the expression “Oh dear”. One day my cousin and I were talking about it and laughing so hard because each time one of us would try to catch out breath, it would just slip out - “Oh dear!”
I hope your migraine is better Lana! I frequently check your blog on my phone in the morning, then don't get back to leave a message until much later!

I would love to meet you and Lana in Seattle one day I feel as if we three started this journey at the same time and I am so glad that we found each other. 1. I think when we first met, I realized you had been to Spain. For a year, right?? My husband and I have traveled there some together, but we haven't yet had an opportunity to take my kids. I would love to show them all Mallorca, but tourism has exploded since I lived there - and I am sure it is quite different now.
