Time to Play: “I Mustache You Some Questions”

A game of tag is being played by bloggers, and this is my day to play. Once tagged, the blogger is provided with a list of questions about themselves.

I was tagged my my friend Lana, who writes the blog Two Teens and Their Mama.  She has been blogging for exactly a year. We discovered each other's blogs when both were in their infancy and have become good friends. Last summer I wrote a post about meeting each other in person.

The name of this game is "I Mustache You Some Questions."  Here goes - I will do my best to answer all the questions, and then I will tag four other bloggers!

Four names people call me other than my real name:

1.  I used to be “Mommy,” but now I'm “Mom”
2. “E’s mom” / “G's Mom”
3. “Sally”  (I have an identical twin named Sally and believe me, I have been called her name a lot!)
4. “Sue” (Acquaintances sometimes try to call me this, but I have just never felt like a “Sue.”)

Four jobs I've had:

1. Residence Hall Assistant/ Residence Hall Director in college
2. Registered Nurse in a variety of settings:
  • Med/surgical floor; Intermediate Cardiac Care Unit; and  ICU/CCU (in three different states).
  • School nurse (and house mother!) at a boarding school in Spain.
  • Staff nurse aboard the SS Universe, for the Semester-at-Sea University Program.
3. Stay-at-Home Mom.
4. Freelance writer.

Four movies I would/have watched more than once:

3. Home videos of my children!
4. The Little Mermaid, Toy Story I and II, all the Rescue Hero movies,  Disney movies ... (Over and over again when my kids were small!)

Four books I would recommend:

3. Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
4. Winter Wheat by Mildred Walker

Four places I have lived:

This is sort of hard to choose, so I will just name the first four!)
1. Canada
2. Spain
3. Delaware, USA
4. West Virginia, USA

Four places I have been:

Again, very hard to choose, as I have been fortunate to travel a lot.
1. My most recent travel:
Spring Break last week; we drove from Montana to Colorado.
2. A place I visited before it ceased to be a country:
3. Variation in Longitude:
I visited my parents when they lived in Singapore. When I worked as a nurse
aboard the S.S.Universe, I went all the way around the world, from West to East,
stopping at ten ports along the way.
4. Variations in Latitude:
I have been north of the Arctic Circle and to the Equator.  The Antarctic Circle,
however, is not high on my list of places I wish to see. (Brrr!)
Note: (On my “About Me”page there is a map that shows all the countries I have been, and a link to a website where you can create a map of your own travels.)

Four places I would rather be right now:

1. Lost in a good novel.
2. A warm tropical beach.
3. On the back of a horse.
4. Exactly where I am now, because I am home - my favorite place in the world.

Four things I don't eat:

Actually there is nothing I won't eat - but these are things I would not choose to eat.
1. A whole hard-boiled egg
2. Swiss cheese
3. Tomato soup (from a can)
4. Raw oysters

Four of my favorite foods:

1. Ice cream
2. Chocolate
3. Peanut butter and chocolate
4. Greek yogurt

Four television shows that I watch:

I really very rarely watch any tv, and I am not currently following any series. I will try to answer the question this way:
1. I used to watch ER and West Wing every week.
2. I still like to watch M.A.S.H re-runs!
3. I have been considering starting to watch the series Downton Abbey.
4. I enjoy watching movies with my family/ friends on our tv.

Four things that I'm looking forward to this year:

1. My daughter coming home from college for a bit.
2. Seeing where my blog / writing will lead me next.
3. Summer weather.
4. Learning how to better use the manual setting on my camera!

Four things I'm always saying:

1. Oh dear.
2.  Be careful.
3. I love you (to my family!)
4. I'm sorry. / Thank you. (I probably say these two phrases equally - and a lot!)

Wow! Now you know quite a bit about me!

It is my turn to tag four bloggers. If you haven't yet discovered their blogs, you are in for a treat.

Ish of Musings of a Writer ... Wanna Be? and Cooking with Ish: Ish and I were friends long before either of us began blogging. I first hit publish before she did ... but I am so impressed that she now writes not one, but two interesting blogs.

Kelly McKenzie of Just Typikel: Kelly's posts makes me laugh, and she always inspires me with her talented, thoughtful writing. She is another blogger I have had the good fortune to meet  and become friends with “in real life.”

Janice Wald of Reflections: I only recently discovered Janice's blog, but it is so full of helpful blogging tutorials that I know I will be spending a lot of future moments there!

Marisa B. from SquaareKat and I have been leaving comments on each other's blogs for some time now.  I enjoy her Ten Things of Thankful posts, and she offers an unique and thought provoking perspective on any topic she writes about.

Now it is your turn: Ish, Kelly, Janice, and Marisa ...“I mustache you some questions!”
I can't wait to read your answers!

This post may be linked to one of the great link-up parties I follow and list on my blog. Check them out!

  1. Fun...now I know more about you...these are hard :)...

    1. I thought they were hard too Ish! Looking forward to hopefully reading your answers :)

  2. My favorite answer is to the 4 places you'd rather be right now. I agree with every one of them!

    1. That was one of the few questions I answered without hesitating!

  3. Thank you my dear, I graciously except, and will join the party. love your answers yes you must watch Downton Abbey... :)

    1. So glad you are going to participate Marisa - can't wait to read your answers! And thanks for the D. Abbey recommendation.

  4. I can totally hear you saying "oh dear". So fun to read your answers. I was actually here first thing this morning, but just now realized I never left a comment (I'll blame it on the migraine I had today). The next time we get together I need to hear more about all the fascinating travel you've done!

    1. My grandmother, aunt, mom, cousins, sisters and I all use the expression “Oh dear”. One day my cousin and I were talking about it and laughing so hard because each time one of us would try to catch out breath, it would just slip out - “Oh dear!”
I hope your migraine is better Lana! I frequently check your blog on my phone in the morning, then don't get back to leave a message until much later!

    1. Thanks so much for participating Janice - I love that you left your answers here! You have lived some interesting places - and what a perfect answer to the question of where you would prefer to be right now! I look forward to continuing to learn a lot from your blog, and getting to know you better!

  6. Replies
    1. Thanks - I guess you are just never too old to play tag :)

  7. Great job Susan! I already feel as if I know you so well, but now I know even more! I would love to meet you and Lana in Seattle one day I feel as if we three started this journey at the same time and I am so glad that we found each other. You two have been such a great support system and you both make me laugh so hard sometimes! I can't believe all of the places that you have traveled to! I'm going to check out some of these other bloggers as well as the "about me" page to check out the map you were talking about!

    1. I loved reading your answers too, Rena! I love the idea of meeting up in Seattle! Maybe we could find a blog conference to go to - or have a mini one of our own!!

  8. I saw this post on Lana's blog and saw that she nominated you. I'm glad I remembered to look for it to see your answers too! =0)

    1. Thanks Kim! I love that you renamed your Friday Series “What I'm Loving Lately” - and it is a great way to get to know you better too!!

  9. OK! I've gone and answered 'em all. Love that you tagged me too. Thank you Susan. Next time we get together we must do it over ice cream, chocolate, peanut butter and greek yogurt

    1. Love, love, love your answers Kelly! And you are on - we'll spend a day - start with yogurt for breakfast - and then chocolate-peanut butter ice cream for dessert after dinner!

  10. I lived in Spain too! Have we talked about this before? I would love to return and take my family someday!

    1. I think when we first met, I realized you had been to Spain. For a year, right?? My husband and I have traveled there some together, but we haven't yet had an opportunity to take my kids. I would love to show them all Mallorca, but tourism has exploded since I lived there - and I am sure it is quite different now.

  11. This is so fun! I'm amazed at how many questions I would have answered in exactly the same way as you! Kindred spirits!

    1. Kindred spirits for sure - and I think you should come with me when I meet up with Rena and Lana some day in Seattle!!!
