Almost Wordless Wednesday

It has been a rather eventful week.

golden doodle, pool

Last Wednesday we were planning to be on the road by 5:00 a.m, heading for a family vacation with my parents, sisters, and their families. We had rented a big house for all 18 of us. It was 13 hours from our home, so we were hoping to get an early start.

At 4:45 a.m. I began loading the cooler with the food we were taking - and discovered that our fridge and freezer had died.

Needless to say, our departure was delayed over an hour, as we unloaded the fridge/freezer and unsuccessfully tried to fix it. We left a key out for the repair person, and called the appliance repair service from the car.  After a very fun family reunion, we returned to a working fridge and freezer. Hurray!

Unfortunately, the fridge did not stay cold, and on Monday the contents of the freezer began to melt. Hopefully it will be completely repaired today. We have family visiting this week, so I really hope so - it is not a great time to be without a fridge!

My creative energy seemed to ebb with the faulty fridge. Rather than write the post I had planned for today, I am sharing a couple "Wordless Wednesday" photos.  They are of the newest member of our extended family - and I think you will agree that he is quite a moppet

dog, Golden Doodle

With this dog, there was actually 19 of us all together for our vacation!

What caption would you write for either photo?

This post may be linked to one of the great link-up parties I follow and list on my blog. Check them out!

  1. Ugh. Nothing gets me faster than faulty appliances. Actually machines of any kind. They're supposed to work! And when they don't...aarrgh!
Glad you had a fun reunion anyway! :)
#1 Okay....hold it...remain calm.... wait until you see the whites of their eyes...
    #2 I'm gorgeous. What's your purpose?

    1. Appliances and cars ... all great IF they work!
      Love your captions, Diane!

  2. Fridges do choose the very best time to have a hissy fit don't they? We had one die on Christmas Eve - and remember our Christmas is in mid-summer. And another death (again in summer) as we were heading off for a week away.
    Sigh.
Love your newest extended family member. And that gorgeous chillax smile in the second photo.

    1. Christmas time (in any season but especially summer!) would be the worst time to have a fridge die. My sympathies to your family!! And chillax is the perfect adjective to describe this dog.

  3. Ugh! Bum fridges are the worst. My parents just had to replace theirs on Tuesday. That dog is amazing, I am glad you were still able to go see everyone!

  5. I'm so sorry about your refrigerator. Hope you had a wonderful vacation anyway! That dog is adorable - he reminds me of Snufalupagus (I know I'm not spelling that right) from Sesame Street! Does he shed alot?

    1. The best thing about this dog (a golden doodle) is that he doesn't shed at all!! And sesame street definitely comes to mind!

  6. My caption: "Whaddaya want now??!!" ;-)

I'm so sorry to hear about your fridge/freezer. That's really not cool (no pun intended). I hope it's really fixed now and that your vacation went well. Anyway, if you haven't heard of this life hack yet, you may want to view this one. My son watches this guy, Grant Thompson aka life hack guy, and this is a good hack for monitoring freezer when on vacation. (It's toward the middle of the video i think....) ---- http://lifehacker.com/invert-a-bottle-of-frozen-juice-to-know-if-your-freezer-1629965197

    Have a good weekend, Susan!

    1. You have displayed your talent with words Joy - both with the caption and your (unintended) pun! Monitoring a freezer while on vacation certainly makes sense to me now - I'm on my way to check out the link! Thanks for your comment and sorry to be so slow responding.

  7. What a shame about the fridge freezer. Of course you can't take a chance with off food so if anything has defrosted you pretty much have to dispose of it.
The dog is adorable! I want one!

  8. Now that sucks! I am in love with that dog though! I would love to have one. I've never had an appliance go out like that before, but I remember many years ago trying to defrost my own freezer and somehow jabbed the ice pick in to hard and busted the freon. Had to get a new refrigerator but it was all my fault haha!
