Wishing for World Peace

In my last post, I stated that except for publishing on Saturdays, I would be taking a blog vacation this month. In light of the events of this past weekend, however, I feel like I need to express my sympathies here.

My heart is heavy for the victims of the recent terrorist acts in Paris, and I am as shocked and horrified as anyone else. The thing is, though, I am not just sorrowful for Paris, I am sad for all of us ... every person on this earth.

I am sad that we have not yet figured out how to all live in peace. Can you imagine how wonderful our world would be, if we solved everything with words and learned to get along?

  1. I so agree with this, Susan. I can't believe that after 71 years of living on this earth I cannot say that things are better. It is sad and very frightening. What future will our children and grandchildren have? We need to find another avenue toward peace that just more killing. Bernie Sanders said he believes a lot of the problem is related to climate change which contributes to very little food for parts of the world and other things. Interesting aspect, I think. The poorer, the abused, the hungry, and more uneducated people are, the angrier they become.

    1. It is sad and frightening Lynn. It seems that we are an intelligent enough species, that we should be able to come up with a solution that does not involve fighting and violence.

  2. Susan. I feel exactly the same. What is this world coming to. I was so sick that I could not watch the news. As you know I'm in Greece the country that is the gateway for all this madness. We want to help the refugees and yet at the same time we do not know what is going on, who is coming in. And to make things even worst there are others who take advantage of the refugees plight and well, it's just too much to bear. All this sorrow.

    1. It does feel like too much to bear - and I am just a spectator ... I can't imagine what it must be like for the poor victims of this violence and terror.

    1. It does feel that way Rena - and I hope we all, as world citizens, can figure out a way to break that cycle soon. Imagine what a wonderful place this world would be, if we could all live in peace.

  4. My heart also aches. For Paris, for Beirut the day before, and for the innocent Moslems (and I believe they are the majority) who have been tarred with the terrorist brush and will face prejudice, hatred and fear.
    How I long for peace...

    1. Peace, and the widespread believe that all people are equal.

  5. Clever words! I think if we all should use our energy to do good and share compassion and love, we could then do some miracles<3 Sad that we don't realize...
